Since having our baby girl, smoothies have been an amazing go-to breakfast for my husband and I. They’re fairly quick and really filling (if you make them right). But their main draw for us is that we can drink them while holding our baby. Win-Win!

Since we’re in the heat of summer now, I wanted to try making something super refreshing and light tasting, but still be super filling and satisfying. (Plus I really wanted to make a smoothie with basil in it)….LOL.

This delicious and refreshing strawberry basil protein smoothie will fill you up on those hot summer days. Perfect for kids, too! This healthy breakfast recipe is easy and simple, and made with coconut milk and almond milk!

You may have heard me say that smoothies are sh!tty for you, not filling, and loaded with sugar. I go over why that is in my post about healthy foods that are terrible for you. But that’s only when they’re made with no protein, healthy fats, or fiber and way too much juice and/or fruit.

This Strawberry Basil Protein Smoothie is made with fiber, healthy fats, and a high quality protein powder so you actually stay full.

USE A HIGH QUALITY PROTEIN POWDER

It can be hard to know what to look for in a protein powder, it’s all so confusing and half the ingredients are basically a foreign language. I can’t tell you how many protein powders I’ve seen that look great and tastes amazing, but have sh!t for ingredients.

I love Designer Protein Powder and having been using it for the past year for everything from my Protein Coffee to my 5 Minute Coconut Matcha Protein Balls.

It’s my favorite protein powder because of its no BS ingredients. No artificial sweeteners, no gluten filler, it’s high in fiber, low in carbs, and doesn’t have that chalky taste a lot of protein powders do. It’s a super healthy, high fiber, low sugar protein powder with probiotics. Each scoop has 20 g of protein, only 6 g of carbs, and every flavor I’ve tried is delicious.

This strawberry basil smoothie has it all. Protein, healthy fats, fiber, and amazing flavor. It’s refreshing and tastes light, but has all the ingredients for blood sugar stability and keeping you burning fat all morning long.
