Avocado oil – I like to use avocado oil because it has such a neutral, mild flavor and a high smoke point so it can handle the air fryer just fine!

Garlic powder – Make sure to use garlic powder, not garlic salt. That will keep the sodium level of this asparagus air fryer recipe fairly low!

Onion powder – Again, make sure to use onion powder instead of onion salt to keep this recipe low in sodium!

Parmesan cheese – I like to use fresh parmesan cheese, but you can use grated parmesan cheese, or skip it altogether!

How to cook asparagus in the air fryer

    FAQ

How long to cook asparagus in air fryer?

Asparagus cooks quickly in the air fryer, so about 6 minutes is all it’ll take for nice, crispy asparagus spears!

    How to trim asparagus?

To trim asparagus, lay them out on a cutting board and trim where the asparagus goes from white to green, usually about 3 inches up from the end of the stem. Discard the ends!

    How long does asparagus last?

Fresh asparagus stored in the fridge will last about a week. After that, it will start to become mushy towards the tops!

    How to store asparagus?

The best way to store asparagus is in the fridge with the ends submerged in water in a glass jar, just like you would a bouquet of flowers. They will last longer stored that way than just thrown into your crisper drawer.

Should I blanch asparagus before air frying?

There is no need to blanch asparagus before you air fry it. The asparagus becomes completely cooked, tender and crispy in the air fryer when you place it in fresh.

How long do you reheat asparagus in the air fryer?

Place your previously air-fried asparagus back in your air fryer basket and air fry again for about 3 minutes. Any longer and it will become a little too cooked and maybe even mushy.
