5 Health Apps You Need In Your Life

Apps. They are amazing, and can make our lives so much easier. There literally is an app for everything. Traffic apps, wine apps, health apps, photo apps, there’s even an app that will tell you where the closest energy drink is lol it’s ridiculous.

These health and fitness apps will make working out and becoming healthier SO MUCH EASIER. They’ll keep you motivated too! Even make it fun. It’s true.

All of these health apps are ones that I use personally, and I love them. (I wouldn’t recommend them if I hadn’t tried them).

Also, I can’t be the only one that gets bored with the same old workout day in and day out. I lose my motivation and have to change it up, or I end up a$$ planting on the couch. That’s why I need these health apps in my life. And you do, too.

Aaptiv:

This health app is a work out app that gives you access to trainer-led workouts wherever you are. I use this one mostly for jogging on the treadmill. When I first downloaded Aaptiv, I just opted for the free trial. But I quickly realized there was no going back to exercising without it. So I paid for a year-long membership, and the rest is history. I use it almost every time I work out.

There are workout sessions available for resistance training, cycling, outdoor running, elliptical, rowing, yoga, walking, meditation, 5k training….even workouts based on what trimester of pregnancy you’re in. Click here for your 30-day free trial of Aaptiv!

    SWORKIT:

I actually saw this app on Shark Tank, and downloaded it while they were pitching to the sharks. It’s an app for strength training, cardio, yoga, and stretching and is similar to Aaptiv. It does not have any equipment workouts on it though (rowing, treadmill, elliptical, etc).

What sets SWORKIT apart is that it actually shows you how to do the moves as you’re doing them.

If you are a beginner and aren’t sure what a spider man push up or a mason twist is, this app will show you exactly how to do it. Most of the app is free, but there are some work outs that are locked until you upgrade to a premium membership. I’ve found that it’s not really necessary, and I still use the free version of this health app.

    AllTrails:

This app is unique, and my husband and I use this whenever we want to take Penny (our boxer dog) for a hike. You just put in your city and it will tell you all the trails that are near you. It will also rank them as easy, moderate, or hard, so you can make a good decision on whether or not you’ll be able to make it haha.

We like this app because it also gives you maps of the trails right on your phone. AllTrails also tells you if it’s kid friend and dog friendly. It also allows you to rate the trail and write reviews, and you can also read how other people have rated and reviewed the trails. If you want to do more outdoor hiking, this app is a must.

    Fitbit:

I honestly doubt anyone reading this has not heard of Fitbit. Anyone who has a Fitbit tracker probably uses this app to track their steps. But I love this health app for more than just tracking my steps. You can also log food and water into the app, and track your sleep patterns. Personally, I use the app along with the fitness tracker to remind me to get up and move around when I’ve been sitting too long. It’s just too easy to sit at work for hours without even thinking about getting up. I let my Fitbit remind me!

    SparkRecipes:

This app is totally free and is great for finding healthy recipes when I’m in a pinch. You can browse through recipes, or search for something specific. All of these recipes are fairly healthy and provide great instructions. For each recipe, you can choose to save to your favorite to use later or look at the nutritional information.

The best part of the app is that you can actually choose to add all the ingredients into a shopping list within the app. So if you plan on making one of the recipes, simply click the “Add to Shopping List” and boom! You have a grocery list. Meal planning has never been easier! Super convenient and quick.
