    It’s Not That Complicated

Hey there! My name is Megan, and I’m a registered dietitian in Oregon! I grew up in the Willamette Valley, and have sooooo many fond memories of this awesome state. Oregon is my home, and there is so much to do here. My favorite things about living in Oregon are the  endless amount of hiking spots, outdoor running, and allllll the wine tasting (seriously, we have great pinot).

I started my nutrition education in 2009. Originally, I had picked my major to be exercise and sport science, but had no idea what I could or wanted to do with that degree. I was sitting in an intro nutrition class (almost everyone with a science major has to take it), having no idea what I wanted to do, and so confused about what to do with my life. The professor was a dietitian, and she started talking about calories, and fiber, and the impact of nutrition on our body. I was instantly hooked. It honestly felt like a light bulb literally lit up above my head….. I want to be a dietitian. I immediately added that major on, and eventually graduated with two bachelor’s degrees, one in Exercise and Sport Science, and the other in Nutrition from Oregon State (go Beavs)!

Flash forward to today, and I’ve learned more about nutrition than I ever thought I would. One thing I’ve learned throughout the years as a nutrition professional is that there is so much misinformation out there! From juice cleansing to raspberry ketones, it can be so difficult to sort through what is real and what isn’t. Actually understanding the science behind nutrition has made it much easier to navigate through the endless Facebook ads telling you that you need a detox, or butter in your coffee will increase your metabolism. I’m here to tell you, living a healthy lifestyle is not that complicated! And that’s the whole point of this blog….real health advice for real people.

So if you’re ready to sort through all the misinformation that’s causing brain overload, or just get some great, healthy recipes, then let’s do this! Feel free to comment below or shoot me an email with a question. Let’s tackle the craziness together!
