These healthy avocado brownies are so easy to make! With heart healthy ingredients, this simple vegan brownie recipe turns out so fudgy and delicious!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted a dessert recipe. I know it’s summer, but I’ve been in such a baking mood lately!
Brownies are pretty much my absolute favorite dessert, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a “healthy” brownie until now!
These healthy avocado brownies are made with whole wheat pastry flour, maple syrup instead of sugar, and heart-healthy avocado. They turn out fudgy, chocolately, and the best part is, they don’t taste healthy AT ALL.
Plus, I’m such a huge fan of cold brew coffee right now, so I threw that in there to make the chocolate flavor more intense. YUM!!

Can You Bake With Avocado?
Absolutely. Baking with avocado is actually much easier than I thought. Not only does it make your baked goods healthier, it’s a great way to help make a recipe vegan.
When a baking recipe calls for butter, simply substitute pureed avocado instead. It’s a clean swap, 1 cup of butter = 1 cup of pureed avocado!
Actually Healthy Avocado Brownies
What makes this vegan brownie recipe different than traditional brownies is all of the heart-healthy ingredients. Avocado, whole wheat pastry flour, and flax are all great for the heart and go so well in a brownie without really altering the taste at all!
I’m also a big fan of using natural sweeteners instead of refined sugar, and this recipe only calls for 1/2 cup of maple syrup. It bakes right in, helps with the fudgy texture, and doesn’t add a huge load of processed sugar.
These healthy avocado brownies are also dairy-free and egg-free. If you use vegan chocolate chips, they’re 100% vegan!

Budget Friendly
This recipe makes about 12 brownies and costs a total of $4.24. That works out to be about $.35 per brownie.
Although you can grab a box mix off the shelf for a dollar, I can almost guarantee that brownie mix is loaded with sugar, refined carbs, preservatives, additives, artificial flavors, and likely a bunch of ingredients you can’t pronounce.
That’s one of the reasons I love making things like these avocado brownies from scratch. You have complete control over what goes into your food, and you know exactly what you’re putting in your body. $.35 isn’t a huge price to pay for a brownie made with whole, natural ingredients.
