Baked brie doesn’t need to be wrapped in pastry to feel special. When you bake the round on its own, the rind keeps everything contained while the inside turns soft, warm, and spreadable. Scoring the top before baking lets the honey and jam sink into the cheese instead of just sitting on the surface. The result is a baked brie recipe with jam that looks impressive but comes together in minutes.

As a dietitian, I love appetizers like this because they’re satisfying and easy to share. A little rich, creamy brie goes a long way, especially when you pair it with fruit, toasted baguette, or crispy crackers. Each serving also brings 8 grams of protein from the cheese and nuts. It’s the kind of recipe that fits right into a festive spread without any fuss.

If you’re planning a Thanksgiving or Christmas appetizer table, this baked brie pairs beautifully with a few of my other holiday favorites. My pumpkin whipped feta dip brings cozy fall flavor, while this cranberry jalapeño dip adds a sweet and spicy kick. For something you can grab and go, these charcuterie skewers round out the board. Together, they make an easy, crowd-pleasing holiday spread.

What Does Baked Brie with Jam Taste Like?

Baked brie is buttery, mild, and slightly tangy, with a soft, almost molten center once it’s warm. The fig jam adds a deep, jammy sweetness, and the honey seeps into the scored top for little pockets of extra flavor. Toasted pecans bring a nutty crunch that balances all that creaminess. Every bite is sweet, salty, rich, and crunchy at the same time.

Why You Will Love Baked Brie with Jam

    • Just 4 ingredients. Brie, honey, jam, and nuts are all you need.
    • No pastry required. Skip the puff pastry and crescent dough for a simpler, faster baked brie.
    • Ready in 20 minutes. Four minutes of prep and the oven does the rest.
    • Perfect holiday appetizer. It’s festive enough for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any party.
    • Budget-friendly. The whole recipe costs about $8.78, or $1.46 per serving.

    Ingredients Needed

    • Brie round: An 8-ounce round is the perfect size for a small group. Leave the rind on, since it’s edible and holds the melted cheese together as it bakes.
    • Honey: A small drizzle seeps into the scored top and adds natural sweetness.
    • Fig jam: Fig is a classic pairing with brie.
    • Chopped pecans: They toast in the oven and add a buttery crunch. Walnuts or pistachios also work well.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Swap the jam: Try raspberry, apricot, cherry, or fig preserves. Hot pepper jelly is great if you want a little heat.
    • Change the nuts: Use walnuts or pistachios in place of pecans, or leave them off for a nut-free version.
    • Use maple syrup: Swap the honey for pure maple syrup for a cozier fall flavor.
    • Add fresh herbs: Sprinkle fresh rosemary or thyme on top right after baking.

How to Make Baked Brie with Jam

    1. Prep the pan. Heat your oven to 350°F, then cover a small baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
    2. Score the brie. Unwrap the brie round and use a sharp knife to cut a crisscross pattern across the top, about ½ inch deep. Set the scored brie in the center of the lined baking sheet.
    3. Add the honey and jam. Drizzle the honey over the cuts so it can seep into the cheese. Spoon the fig jam on top and spread it all the way to the edges.
    4. Top and bake. Scatter the chopped pecans evenly over the jam. Bake for 16–18 minutes, pulling it out once the sides just begin to soften and slump.
    5. Serve warm. Move the brie to a board or platter and serve right away with crackers, toasted baguette, and fresh fruit.

    Recipe Success Tips

    • Don’t cut too deep. Keep the scoring to about ½ inch so the rind stays intact and the cheese doesn’t spill out.
    • Start with cold brie. Scoring is much cleaner when the cheese comes straight from the fridge.
    • Watch for the slump. The brie is ready when the sides just start to lose their shape. Overbaking can cause it to burst.
    • Serve it right away. Baked brie is best warm and gooey, and it firms up as it cools.
    • Use parchment. It makes moving the brie to a serving board much easier.

What to Serve with Baked Brie

    • Crackers: Whole grain or seeded crackers add crunch and a little fiber.
    • Toasted baguette or crostini: Sturdy slices are perfect for scooping up the melted cheese.
    • Fresh fruit: Apple slices, pear slices, and grapes add a crisp, juicy contrast.
    • Veggies: Celery sticks and sliced cucumbers make a lighter dipper.
    • Other holiday appetizers: Serve it alongside dips, skewers, and a charcuterie board for a full spread.

    How to Store Baked Brie

Baked brie is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

To reheat, bake it at 350°F for about 8–10 minutes, or microwave in short 15-second bursts until warm.

You can also assemble the brie up to 24 hours ahead, cover it, and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to bake.

Is Baked Brie with Jam Healthy?

One serving of this baked brie with jam (1/6 of the recipe) has about 218 calories, 16 grams of carbs, 8 grams of protein, 14 grams of fat, and 244 milligrams of sodium. These numbers include only the brie, honey, fig jam, and pecans.

Crackers, baguette, fruit, and anything else you serve it with are not included in the nutrition info. Your totals will go up depending on what you pair it with and how much.

Brie is a full-fat cheese, so most of the fat here comes from the cheese, with some heart-healthy unsaturated fat from the pecans. The carbs come mostly from the jam and honey. At 244 milligrams of sodium per serving, it’s moderate for a cheese-based appetizer.

Total nutritional content per serving is:

    • Calories: 218 calories
    • Carbohydrates: 16 grams
    • Protein: 8 grams
    • Total Fat: 14 grams
    • Sodium: 244 mg
    • Fiber: 0 grams

    Pricing Info

This is what I personally paid to make this recipe:

    • 8 oz Brie round: $5.87
    • 1 tbsp honey: $0.21
    • ⅓ cup fig jam: $1.86
    • ¼ cup chopped pecans: $0.84

A baked brie appetizer at a restaurant often costs $14–$18 for a single plate, and pre-assembled baked brie kits from the store can run close to that.

Making it at home costs about $8.78 for the whole recipe, or $1.46 per serving. That’s a big savings for an appetizer that feeds 6. Note that this total doesn’t include crackers, baguette, or fruit for serving.

    FAQs

Do you put jam on before or after baking brie?

For this recipe, add the jam before baking. It warms up with the cheese and sinks into the scored top, so the flavors meld together. If you prefer a fresher, brighter jam flavor, you can bake the brie plain and spoon the jam on right after it comes out of the oven.

Do you take the rind off brie before baking?

No, leave the rind on. The rind is edible and acts like a natural container, holding the melted cheese together as it bakes. Scoring just the top lets the toppings soak in while the rest of the rind keeps everything in place.

What jam goes best with brie?

Fig jam is a classic choice because its rich sweetness balances brie’s mild, buttery flavor. Raspberry, apricot, and cherry jams are also delicious. For a sweet and spicy twist, try hot pepper jelly. For baked brie and preserves, any flavor will work, so use whatever you have on hand.

What is the best temperature to bake brie?

350°F is the sweet spot for baked brie. It warms the cheese all the way through without causing the rind to burst. At this temperature, an 8-ounce round takes about 16–18 minutes.
